Our aims are simple… To give children and young adults who are suffering from life limiting illnesses the opportunity to experience the magic of flight.

It has been shown that when children are undergoing treatment for life limiting illnesses, the excitement of flying is sometimes the welcome distraction that they need to help them continue with their treatment.

With our purpose built, wheelchair friendly building, we are able to tailor a fun packed day to suit your needs. Flights for Life can host multiple children on any one day, or can provide a more private family experience.

All our staff are volunteers and give up their time freely to help make the day as special as possible.

As well as flying poorly children, we also run special days dedicated to the siblings of children who are undergoing treatment, and pride ourselves on the number of siblings we have flown over the years.

Flights for Life works with a number of children’s hospices providing a fun day out for everyone. However we also receive a number of requests to fly children who aren’t part of a registered hospice, but are just as worthy. If that’s you, please make contact and we’ll gladly arrange something.

Our base is at Wickenby airfield, in Lincolnshire, but if you are part of a group, we can come to you. We will gladly fly to an airfield that is local to you if your child or children are not able to travel the distance to Wickenby.

Flights for Life is based at Wickenby Aerodrome approximately 10miles North East of Lincoln and 5 miles South of Market Rasen.
If you are travelling from Lincoln, please take the A158 towards Skegness. Approximately 1.5 miles after the village of Langworth, turn left onto the B1399 and follow the road / signs. The airfield is well signposted from the A158. When you arrive at the airfield, Flights For Life is the first building you see on your left.
